Shrub or subshrub ; up to 1 m high , with whitish-pubescent glandular stems and leaves . Stems much-branched , stiff , woody , covered in dense grey , appressed , T-shaped hairs . Leaves alternate , up to 3 x 1 . 5 cm , singly , or in clusters on woolly cushions along the stems and branches , sessile or shortly petiolate , greyish-green , obovate to spathulate , with attenuate or cuneate base and obtuse or rounded apex , (sub)entire , finely adpressed-pubescent . Inflorescences numerous in terminal heads . Flowers deep purple to mauve , all perfect , tubular , disk-florets only . Fruit achenes , 2–3 mm long , pubescent . Seeds pappus , white , with an outer row of up to 1 mm long , linear , almost bristle-like scales , and an inner row of 3-4 mm long bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
