Pallenis hierochuntica (Michon) Greuter

This species is native to Canary Islands (Fuerteventura), extending to Pakistan and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Pallenis occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

A dwarf leafy annual herb ; up to 5 cm high , shortly villose to scabrid , glabrescent . Stems procumbent , occasionally branching from the base . Leaves a basal rosette , spathulate , up to 10 × 1 cm , slightly hairy . Inflorescences one to several , sessile to shortly pedunculate in the forks of branches . Flowers pale yellow , no scent ; ray flowers 10–20 , ray lamina 3–6 × 1 . 5–2 . 5 mm ; disk flowers 40–200 . Fruit achenes , 1–2 mm long , turbinate , densely hairy , triquetrous in ray flowers and 4-angular to subterete in disk flowers . Seeds pappus , crown-like , of 6–10 scales ± 1–1 . 5 mm long . (Ref .
