Pegolettia senegalensis Cass.

This species is native to Africa, extending eastwards to Arabian Peninsula, Pakistan to India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Pegolettia occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to ± 60 cm tall . Stems much branched especially in uppermost part , glandular and scabridulous-hairy . Leaves up to 40 , linear to spathulate , attenuate towards base and with obtuse , mucronulate tip , margin entire or very sparsely dentate . Inflorescences with 15–30 flowers ; in very loose corymbiform synflorescences on long peduncles . Flowers yellow , all perfect and tubular , zygomorphic with 4 minute lobes and one much larger , ± 1 . 5 mm long lobe . Fruit achenes , cylindric , 3 . 5–4 . 5 mm long , hairy . Seeds pappus , of 5–6 mm long plumose bristles and an outer row of 2 mm long scales . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
