Pentanema divaricatum Cass.

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula, Syria extending to Central Asia and Myanmar. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Pentanema occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Delicate , annual herb ; up to ± 30 cm , pilose in all parts . Stems usually much branched , ascending to erect , purplish-brown , leafy . Leaves up to 3(–5) , spathulate to lanceolate or ovate , obtuse to acute , upper leaves broadly rounded to clasping at base . Inflorescences solitary at the end of the branches on wiry , mostly 5–15 mm long , purplish-brown peduncles . Flowers yellow ; ray flowers many , pistillate , ray lamina ± 2 mm long ; disk flowers tubular , perfect . Fruit achenes , almost 1 mm long , antrorsely hairy . Seeds pappus , of 5 bristles , ± 4 mm long . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
