Leaves of flowering shoots and outer involucral bracts densely adpressed-white-hairy ; rosette leaves oblanceolate , acute , up to 4 . 5 × 1 cm , the upper third with 2–5 teeth on each side . Inflorescences with over 100 flowers . Flowers brownish deep purple ; marginal flowers pistillate with extremely reduced ray lamina ; disk flowers perfect , tubular . Fruit achenes , 1 . 7–1 . 9 mm long , pale brownish , almost terete . Seeds pappus of a corona of scales up to 0 . 5–0 . 8 mm long and 10–12 easily detachable bristles 4–5 mm long . (Ref .
