Rhanterium epapposum Oliv.

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula, SE Iraq, extending to S Iran. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Rhanterium occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Greyish cushion forming subshrub ; up to 70 cm high . Stems strongly and intricately branched from the base ; young branches slender , adpressed-white-tomentose . Leaves to 40 × 3 mm , linear to narrowly elliptic , entire to remotely dentate , lanate and glabrescent , somewhat fleshy . Inflorescences solitary at the end of branches , deciduous at fruiting . Flowers yellow ; ray flowers pistillate , ray lamina 4–6 mm long ; disk flowers perfect , tubular . Fruit achenes , 2–3 mm long . Seeds pappus , absent . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
