Senecio breviflorus (Kadereit) Greuter

This species is native to Syria, extending to Sinai and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Senecio found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb , up to 30 cm high , glabrous and glaucous . Stems erect . Leaves up to 4 × 2 cm , widely sinuate-dentate to shallowly lobed , often tinged purplish on lower surface ; the lower leaves ovate to spathulate and sessile or attenuate into a petiole-like base ; the middle and upper leaves oblanceolate to triangular-cordate and amplexicaule to clasping with rounded auricles . Inflorescences in a lax , corymbiform synflorescence . Flowers yellow ; ray flowers pistillate , ray lamina pale yellow , 1 . 5–3 . 5 mm long ; disk flowers tubular . Fruit achenes , 2–3 mm long , subcylindric . Seeds pappus of ray flowers absent , of disk flowers with 4 mm long bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
