Senecio glaucus subsp. coronopifolius (Maire) C.Alexander

This subspecies is native to Sicilia, Malta, Canary Islands, extending to Sahara and W Himalaya. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Senecio found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 30 cm high , glabrous or sparsely arachnoid hairy . Stems erect , branched from the base . Leaves with basal leaves lanceolate , entire to pinnatisect with narrow lobes ; stem leaves up to 15 cm long , deeply pinnately lobed to bipinnatisect with linear lobes , often with clasping base ; upper leaves gradually becoming unlobed and linear . Inflorescences in a lax , corymbiform synflorescence . Flowers bright yellow ; ray flowers pistillate , ray lamina 6–9 mm long ; disk flowers perfect , tubular . Fruit achenes , 2–3 mm long , subcylindric . Seeds pappus , present on all achenes , of 5–7 mm long bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
