Annual herb ; up to 40 cm high , with white latex . Stems sparingly branched , with slender spine-like bristles . Leaves with basal leaves rosulate , up to 14 × 4 cm , obovate to oblanceolate , almost entire to pinnatifid , hispid to spinulose of simple bristles ; stem leaves lanceolate , auriculate , smaller , otherwise similar . Inflorescences solitary heads at the end of the branches . Flowers pale yellow . Fruit achenes , almost straight to s-shaped , with a long , slender beak distinctly longer than the 4–5 mm long body . Seeds pappus , with plumose bristles , 9–12 mm long , caducous . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
