Volutaria dhofarica Wagenitz

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula (Oman). (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Volutaria found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual to pauciennial herb ; up to 25 cm high . Stems erect , branched from base , glabrescent greyish-whitish floccose-tomentose . Leaves lanceolate in outline , pinnately lobed with 3–4 segments and dentate , upwards the stem becoming smaller and entire . Inflorescences solitary at the end of the branches . Flowers with marginal flowers filiform , with longish lobes , whitish to purplish , sterile ; disk flowers intensively rose , tubular , bisexual . Fruit achenes , ± 3 mm long , hairy , with distinctly lateral hilum . Seeds pappus , ± 2–3 mm long , of several rounded , denticulate , pale to brownish or purplish scales . (Ref .
