Zoegea Purpurea Fresen.

This species is native to E Mediterranean, extending eastwards to Pakistan and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Zoegea occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Delicate annual herb ; up to ± 40 cm high . Stems 4-angled , sparingly branched , erect , leafy . Leaves with basal leaves 10–30 (or more) x 2–10(–15) mm , narrowly spathulate , acute , entire to pinnately divided with linear segments ; stem leaves smaller , linear-lanceolate , entire . Inflorescences solitary at the end of long branches . Flowers with whitish corolla , marginal neuter , equalling involucre in length ; disk flowers perfect , tubular . Fruit achenes , 2–3 mm long . Seeds pappus of outer rows of short scales , a middle row of 4–5 mm long bristles and an inner row of ± 1 mm long bristle-like scales . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
