Arnebia hispidissima (Sieber ex Lehm.) A.DC.

This species is native to N Nigeria, extending eastwards to Tibet. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Arnebia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Erect annual or rarely perennial herb ; up to 5-25 cm high , with a woody base . Stems erect to ascending , branched , covered with hispid , long ± adpressed and short hairs . Leaves alternate , 10–50 × 2–7 mm , simple , greyish , without stipules , lanceolate or linear-lanceolate , base tapering or shortly petiolate , apex acute , margins entire , white hispid . Inflorescences solitary , in short cymes , subsessile ; bracts linear-lanceolate . Flowers bright yellow , bisexual , regular , slightly curved backwards ; calyx 5–8 mm , increasing in length ; lobes 5 , divided almost to base , linear ; corolla yellow , 10–15 mm , 5-lobed , hairy outside , glabrous or hairy inside ; tube cylindrical ; lobes a third of the tube , broadly rounded ; stamens 5 . Fruit nutlets , 4 , glossy . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
