Ehretia obtusifolia Hochst. ex A.DC.

This species is native to Eritrea, extending to S Africa and NW India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Ehretia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Deciduous shrub or small tree ; up to 5 m tall . Stems much branched ; young shoots pubescent-glandular ; bark grey . Leaves alternate , 1–5 × 0 . 5–2 cm , elliptic , obovate to oblong-elliptic , base cuneate , apex rounded to shortly mucronate , margins entire to undulate , coriaceous , pubescent ; petiole up to 2 cm . Inflorescences mostly in terminal heads , 3-7 cm long , up to 30-flowered . Flowers pale pink or white , sweet-scented , hermaphrodite ; calyx deeply 5-lobed ; lobes imbricate , ± 2 mm , ovate to elliptic , puberulous , ciliate ; corolla pale pink or white , tube ± 4 mm , 5-lobed ; limb 3–5 mm , oblong to narrow triangular , spreading ; stamens exserted ; styles 2 , terminal . Fruit berries , 3–4 mm , ovoid to subglobose , fleshy , orange when ripe , separating into 2-seeded halves , usually glandular-pubescent . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
