Leaves alternate , dark green with wavy edges , the midrib and veins raised on the underside , with rounded or pointed tips . Inflorescences terminal in small groups , on tightly curved spike ; bracts green . Flowers yellowish white ; petals sharply pointed . Fruits nutlets , 4 , ovoid , brown , hairy .
