Heliotropium pterocarpum (DC.) Hochst. & Steud. ex Bunge

This species is native to Mauritania, extending to Egypt and Somalia, eastwards to Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 10 species of Heliotropium found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Woody base perennial herb or subshrub ; up to 60 (-100) cm tall . Stems erect to ascending to prostrate , simple or branched , strigose with adpressed and spreading , long and short bulbous-based hairs . Leaves alternate , 5–60 × 2–16 mm , linear to linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate , base tapering into a short petiole , 1–3 mm , apex acute , crenulate-undulate at margins , sometimes margins revolute , young leaves flat , mature fleshy sometimes semi-terete , both surfaces covered with long and short bulbous-based hairs , denser on the nerves and margins , dark green to blackish-green . Inflorescences terminal or axillary ; flowers sessile in dense simple or branched scorpioid cymes , 1 . 5–3 cm , often straightening and somewhat elongating and becoming lax in fruit ; bracts absent . Flowers small , white or rarely yellow (possibly by age or drying yellowish) ; calyx 5-lobed , persistent ; lobes free almost to base , 2–2 . 5 mm , linear to lanceolate , hairy ; corolla tubular , 5-lobed ; tube 2 . 5–3 . 5 mm , hairy outside ; lobes ± 1 mm , linear-oblong , ...
