Lappula spinocarpos (Forssk.) Asch. ex Kuntze

This species is native to N Africa, extending to Arabian Peninsula and W Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one species of Lappula occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 15 cm high . Stems ± erect to decumbent , greyish-green , stout , branching divaricately , adpressed to spreading pubescent . Leaves alternate to subopposite , 10–20 × 1–2 mm , lanceolate to oblanceolate , base cuneate , apex obtuse , margins entire , pubescent with adpressed and spreading hairs . Inflorescences in terminal cymes ; pedicels up to 5 mm in fruit . Flowers blue , funnel-shaped ; calyx 5-lobed to base , accrescent in fruit , lobes ± 4 mm (smaller in flower) , lanceolate-oblong , adpressed hairy with tubercule-based hairs ; corolla blue , funnel-shaped , limb 5-lobed with rounded lobes ; appendages present in throat ; style gynobasic . Fruit nutlets , ovoid-triangular , aculeate , tuberculate . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
