Leaves opposite , 25–40 × 6–18 mm , elliptic to ovate-elliptic , base cuneate and tapering into the petiole , apex acute , margins entire , densely white-woolly interspersed with few bristly white tubercle-based long ± adpressed hairs ; petiole up to 25 mm ; upper leaves sessile . Inflorescences in lax cymes , ± nodding in fruit ; pedicels slender , variable in length , developing to 15 mm ; bracts 5 – 6 mm , linear-lanceolate , white villous . Flowers pale violet to mauve , yellowish in centre , face downwards ; calyx 10–12 mm , enlarging to ± 15 mm in fruit , 5-lobed to base , lobes ovate-lanceolate , acute , densely white villous ; corolla pale violet to mauve , yellowish in centre , tubular ; tube yellowish , 5–6 mm , shorter
