Trichodesma ehrenbergii Schweinf.

This species is native to Egypt, extending to NE Sudan and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. https://en.wikipedia.org). There are 5 species of Trichodesma found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual or biennial herb ; up to 50 cm tall . Stems branched from the base , greyish green , covered with white tubercule-based long stiff spreading hairs . Leaves opposite , 2–6 × 1–3 . 5 cm , ovate to broadly ovate , base rounded to subcordate , apex acute or obtuse , margins entire , pubescent between adpressed tubercule-based hairs ; petiole up to 2 . 5 cm ; upper leaves sessile . Inflorescences s in lax cymes , nodding in fruit ; pedicels slender variable in length , developing later . Flowers whitish or pale blue to violet with brown blotches in centre ; calyx 4–5 mm , enlarging to 7 mm in fruit , 5-lobed to base , lobes ovate-lanceolate , acute , hairy mainly on margins and nerves ; corolla whitish or pale blue to violet with brown blotches in centre , tubular , tube yellow , as long as calyx , 5-lobed above with spreading lobes ; lobes ovate , long acuminate ; stamens 5 , attached at the throat of the corolla tube , anthers ± 10 mm long , densely hairy , ...
