Morettia philaeana (Delile) DC.

This species is native to S & E Mediterranean, extending to Sahara and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Morettia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Woody-based annual or perennial herb ; up to 30(-40) cm high , covered in white hairs throughout . Stems ascending , branching from the base , yellowish-green , densely pubescent with coarse scabrid , stellate hairs . Leaves 1–4×1–2 cm , grey-green , ovate to elliptic , acute , base attenuating into a short petiole , margins entire or with a few teeth . Inflorescences borne terminally . Flowers small , white ; sepals c . 7 mm , not saccate ; petals 4–5 mm . Fruit siliqua , (7-)10-15(-20)×2-4 mm , curved , transversely septate , with the persistent indurated style and stigmas at the apex . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
