Deciduous , shrub or small tree ; up to 10 m tall , with smooth , conspicuous , whitish or grey bark . Stems young shoots white-appressed-pubescent , older shoots with pale-brown lenticels . Leaves alternate , ± asymmetric , oblong-lanceolate , apex acuminate to attenuate , subcordate at the base , margins finely serrate axcept for the base which is entire , petiolate . Inflorescences in small congested axillary cymes , many flowered . Flowers male , femal and bisexual , greenish-cream ; calyx 4-lobed , pubescent ; petals absent ; stamens 4 ; ovary pubescent ; styles tomentose , white maturing red-brown . Fruit drupe , ovoid to globose , glabrescent , green , turning black when mature . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
