Shrub to a small tree ; up to 5 m . Stems young twigs covered with stellate scales ; bark smooth , greyish . Leaves alternate , simple , obovate to orbicular , obtuse or retuse apex , rounded base , densely stellate-hairy , sometimes hairs glandular . Inflorescences in terminal corymbose racemes . Flowers white , zygomorphic ; sepals 4 ; petals broadly-ovate , clawed , white ; stamens 5 ; ovary on a 10-15 mm long gynophore .
