Lonicera hypoleuca Decne.

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula (Oman), W Iran, W & N Pakistan, extending eastwards to Nepal and Tibet. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Lonicera occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Deciduous . Erect , woody shrub ; up to 2 m tall , with spreading branches . Stems ± angular , pubescent with glandular and eglandular hairs , or glabrous to sparsely pubescent , getting glabrous when mature , reddish brown ; branching from the base , young branches pilose and glandular-hairy . Leaves opposite , simple , 10–22 × 7–16 mm , ± thick , broadly ovate to obovate or broadly oblong , rounded at the base , obtuse tip , entire margins , densely hairy and glandular on both sides , grey-green above , pale-grey below ; petiole 1-3 mm , slightly clasping at base . Inflorescences borne in pairs , on short axillary peduncles , terminal ; bracts oblong-lanceolate , longer than calyx lobes , connate ; bracteoles fused into a very hairy cup . Flowers orange-yellow , large , showy , sweetly scented ; calyx tubular , 5-lobed above ; corolla 2-lipped , gibbous at the base , glandular-pubescent .
