A low growing , woody-based annual ; up to 20 cm high , densely hairy . Stems erect to ascending , woody , branching near the base , older branches glabrous , younger ones pubescent , the hairs sometimes glandular . Leaves opposite , simple , subsessile or shortly petiolate , obovate to elliptic-obovate , entire margins , surfaces glabrous to somewhat scabrous pubescent . Inflorescences in terminal cymes . Flowers form a mass of loose irregular sprays covered in long white to brownish hairy bracts ; sepals free , oblong , pale yellow-green , hairy ; petals white , linear-oblong to oblanceolate , shorter than the sepals ; stamens 5 ; filaments c . 2 . 5 mm long , lanceolate ; anthers dorsifixed ; ovary ovoid-lanceolate , attenuate to style . Fruit capsule , cylindrical , indehiscent utricle enclosed by persistent calyx and surrounded by feathery , yellowish red bracts , 1 seeded . Seeds compressed . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .

Reported as a good browse for goats directly after the rainy season. Not grazed later due to presence of hairs. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).
