Glabrous annual , or short-lived perennial herb ; up to 10 cm tall , with woody tap root , branching mainly from base . Stems erect to ascending , slender , di- or trichotomously branched above , purplish-brown , glabrous . Leaves basal leaves forming a rosette ; culine leaves appearing whorled , sessile , obovate-spatulate to linear , mucronate , tip rounded or acute , apparently fleshy , glaucous . Inflorescences in dense 2-4-spicate cymes with long peduncles . Flowers small , sessile ; sepals ovate to lanceolate , greenish brown , with a prominent mid-rib ; petals white , oblong , small , with a lcerate margin ; stamens 3(–5) ; style c . 1 mm long . Fruit capsule , narrow , ovoid , smaller then the sepals , very thin-walled , valves apparently opening at tip only . Seeds c . 0 . 4 mm long , numerous , ovoid , shiny . (Ref .
