Woody-based , perennial herb ; up to 30 cm tall , hairy . Stems erect to ascending , with a few branches , lower parts covered with old and withered leaves , appressed pubescent . Leaves oblong , glabrous , apex acute , base clasping , with entire hairy margin ; upper leaves sessile ; basal leaves with short petioles . Inflorescences in one-sided racemes along the stem , with a short stalk . Flowers calyx cylindrical , 10-veined , 5-toothed above ; petals 5 , white or pale green . ; carpophore 3 mm in fruit , pubescent . Fruit capsule , ovoid , dehiscing by 6 teeth .
