An erect annual herb ; up to 30 cm , with slender taproot . Stems erect , simple or with ascending branches , hairy , glandular-pubescent above , hairs eglandular below . Leaves opposite , sessile , veins parallel , linear-lanceolate , acute tip , base clasping , entire margins , eglandular-pilose . Inflorescences in monochasial or 3-15(-30)-flowered dichasial cymes . Flowers calyx conical , 25-30-veined , 5-toothed above , enlarging and becoming inflated in fruit ; petals 5 , free , pink ; stamens 10 . Fruit capsule , conical , with narrow neck , reddish , dehiscing by 6 teeth , many-seeded . Seeds 1 . 1 mm long , brown , reniform , kidney-shaped . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
