A semi-evergreen annual herb ; 30 cm high , usually rather flaccid . Stems erect to ascending , slender , generally weak , glabrous or with two lines of hairs along the length of the stems . Leaves opposite , glabrous , bright green , ovate-lanceolate , apex acute , broadly elliptic entire margins . Inflorescences 3-5 , in lax axillary or terminal cymes . Flowers white , small , star-shaped ; sepals 5 , ovate , with a rounded tip , free , sparsely villous ; petals white , deeply bifid , shorter than the sepals ; stamens 5-10 . Fruit capsule , cylindrical , light brown , dehiscing by 6 teeth , many-seeded . Seeds 0 . 8-1 . 4 mm , reddish brown , somwhat flattened , orbicular-reniform . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
