A deciduous tree , up to 27 m tall with ± drooping branchlets and reddish-brown to gray , rough or smooth bark . Stems and branches slender , green to grey-green , much-branched . Leaves resemble pine needles , very thin , in whorls of (6–)7–8 , pale green . Inflorescences subglobose or cylindrical , small , 3–5 mm long . Flowers monoecious ; male flowers in terminal spikes , with appressed , mucronate , straw-coloured bracts ; female flowers in small , axillary clusters , ovoid or subglobose . Fruit nutlets , tiny , winged , pale yellowish-brown , contain one seed . Seeds pale straw-coloured or rarely light brown , glossy . (Ref . https://wiki . bugwood . org) .
