Cleome pallida Kotschy

This species is native to Egypt, extending to Somalia, Arabian Peninsula, Iran and to NW India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 11 species of Cleome found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Erect perennial woody-based herb or subshrub ; up to 80 cm tall . Stems branching profusely , slender , yellowish/green , glabrous . Leaves alternate , 2-20 x 1-6 mm , ovate , apex acute to obtuse , tend to fall soon , leaving the stems appearing naked ; petioles 1-2 mm . Inflorescences borne on short stalks , in lax clusters ; pedicels 1-2 mm , slender . Flowers yellow ; sepals 4 , ± 2 mm ; petals 4 , 3-4 mm , pale yellow ; stamens 6 . Fruit 3-5 x 2-4 mm , elliptic , flattened , muricate , solitary , light green to beige , with a winged surface , indehiscent . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
