Convolvulus acanthocladus Boiss. & Kotschy

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula, Iran, extending eastwards to Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 13 species of Convolvulus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial cushion-forming shrub ; up to 30-50 cm high . Stems intricately branched , rigid , ending in forked spiny brown tips , densely sericeous , grey-green . Leaves 5–15 × 2–5 mm , sessile , grey-green , hidden among the stems and branches , oblanlceolate , often plicate , base attenuate , apex acute to obtuse , adpressed pubescent , deciduous . Inflorescences axillary or terminal , solitary or in small clusters ; pedicels ± 6 mm . Flowers white or with pink tinge , funnel-shaped ; sepals unequal , outer sepals 8–9 mm , basally convex , ovate-lanceolate , with a long acuminate tip , white sericeous ; inner sepals 7–8 mm , lanceolate , acuminate , membranous . corolla pink , funnel-shaped , 17–20 mm long , 1 . 5–2 cm in diameter , glabrous but with a sericeous med-petaline area , tube glabrous ; stamens unequal ; filaments with sessile glands on the flattened part . Fruit capsule , ± 6 × 5 mm , ovoid , hairy at the apex , 4–valved . Seeds 3 mm long , dark brown , densely puberulous . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
