Annual or perennial herb of marshy or aquatic places . Stems prostrate , trailling or floating up to 1m or more long , rooting at nodes . Leaves alternate , 3-15 , hastate to linear-oblong , base sagittate or cordate , apex acuminate to obtuse , apiculate , margins entire , glabrous . Flowers solitary or in 1-few-flowered cymes ; corolla blue to mauve or white with a purplish centre . Fruit capsule , globose , glabrous , indehiscent . Seeds soft pilose or glabrous . (Ref .
