Perennial , herbaceous climber with underground tubers . Stems prostrate or ascending , often rooting at the nodes , glabrous or very slightly pubescent . Leaves 4–14 x 4–16 cm , heart or egg-shaped , truncate or cordate at the base , entire or palmately ± deeply 3–5-lobed , sometimes with toothed margins ; petiole 4–20 cm long . Inflorescences cymes 1–several-flowered ; peduncle 3–18 cm long ; pedicels 3–12 mm long . Flowers sepals oblong to elliptic-oblong , 7–12 , acute ; petals violet to pale purple or white , forming a trumpet shape , often darker in colour inside the tube . Fruits capsule , dry , dehiscent , ovoid . Seeds glabrous . (Ref . POWO ; 2023) .

Cultivated for its edible tubers. Findal sometimes boiled with mashed dates to give it the starchy-sweet flavour. It usually consumed during winter seasons giving more energy and warm to the body. In few places in N Oman this well known tuber is known as "jazar" which is the common Arabic name used for Carrot. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).
