Perennial herb with tuberous rootstock . Stems prostrate , climbing or twining , up to 1m or more long , smooth or muriculate , glabrous or villous at nodes . Leaves ovate to orbicular in outline , palmately lobed to base into 3-5(-7 , rare in Oman) , petiolate . Inflorescence axillary , in 1-many-flowered cymes . Flowers sepals unequal , broadly ovate , obtuse to acute , mucronulate , glabrous sometimes verruculose ; corolla purple to red-purple , with purple centre and purple tinge on outside of the limb , funnel-shaped . Fruit capsule , subglobose , glabrous , turn brown as they mature , contain four seeds . Seeds subglobose or ovoid , blackish , with short and long hairs . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
