Vigorous annual herb . Stems climbing or twining , up to 1m or more long , glabrous , stout , armed with soft herbaceous spines . Leaves simple , smooth , soft , alternate , pale green , ovate or , rarely , 3-lobed , base cordate with rounded auricles , apex abruptly acuminate with a more/less mucronulate tip , petiolate . Inflorescences axillary , solitary , of 1 – 2 (– 5)-flowered , pedunculate cymes . Flowers sepals unequal , narrowly ovate with a fleshy caudate awn , glabrous ; corolla dark lilac , glabrous , funnel-shaped . Fruit capsule , ovoid , glabrous , rostrate . Seeds two to four , black , glabrous . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
