Trailing perennial herb . Stems trailing , long prostrate ; spreading up to 5 m , rooting at nodes , glabrous . Leaves alternate , thick , often secund , vivid green , shallowly bi-lobed , base cuneate to truncate , deeply to shallowly emarginate at the apex , margins entire , glabrous , petiolate . Inflorescence erect , in 1-6(-10)-flowered axillary cymes . Flowers sepals 5 , unequal , ovate , obtuse ; corolla large , mauve with a dark centre , trumpet shaped with fused petals . Fruit capsule , brown , roughly rounded . Seeds covered in brown velvety hair . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .

الاستخدامات


It is toxic to camels. The plants formed a matted layer which both held togather the rather unstable palm frond roof and walls and also provided protection against wind and rain. Research has been carried out on the efficacy of the traditional usage of this plant as an antithistaminic and anabolic , with encouraging results to date (Ref. Plants of Dhofar).
