Flowers male flowers yellow , solitary or in 2–4-flowered fascicles ; female flowers solitary , pedicellate , yellow ; sepals linear ; petals yellow . Fruit ellipsoid or oblong-ellipsoid , glabrous , green to white with darker green longitudinal stripes , pale yellow when ripe ; flesh bitter or non-bitter .
