Euphorbia indica Lam.

This species is native to S Iran, estwards to S China and Indo-China; introduced elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 28 species of Euphorbia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Spreading or erect annual herb ; up to 30 cm high , the whole plant sparsely pilose , and often purplish tinged with fibrous root . Stems simple to branched , ascending to ± erect , pubescent but multicellular hairs lacking , reddish green . Leaves opposite , 10-25 x 8-11 mm , ± sessile , oblong , apex obtuse , base ± truncate , margin obscurely toothed , upper surface glabrous to sparsely pubescent , 3-nerved from the base ; stipules filiform . Inflorescences cyathia in terminal and axillary capitate cymes on peduncles to 3 cm long , subtended by a pair of small leafy bracts , deep reddish purple . Flowers cyathia ; glands with small white petal-like appendages ; male flowers bracteoles linear ; female flower ovary shortly pedicellate . Fruit capsule , 1-1 . 5 mm , acutely 3-lobed , sparsely pubescent . Seeds 1 × 0 . 75 mm , oblong-conical , reddish brown , with obscure transverse ridges . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
