Annual herb or short-lived perennial ; up to 10-20 cm tall , with a fleshy root . Stems swollen , succulent , smooth , pilose becoming glabrous at maturity . Leaves ± 8 x a cm , ovate to linear-lanceolate , apex rounded , base cuneate , margin entire or with a few minute glandular teeth ; petiole ± 1 cm . Inflorescences cymes axillary and in terminal 3-branched umbels , forking 2–4 times with primary rays ; peduncle 1-2 mm ; bracts oblanceolate to ovate . Flowers cyathia , 2 . 5 mm in diameter , puberulous ; cyathial glands 4 , green to reddish green ; male flowers bracteoles linear , deeply toothed , ciliate ; female flower ovary pilose . Fruit capsule , ± 5 x 4 mm , subglobose , sparsely hairy . Seeds 4 x 2 mm , oblong , obscurely 4-angled , lightly wrinkled , greyish brown . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
