Euphorbia schimperiana Scheele

This species is native to Tropical Africa and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 28 species of Euphorbia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Much branched annual or short-lived perennial herb ; up to 50 cm tall . Stems erect , reddish , glabrous . Leaves 1–3 . 5 x 0 . 2–0 . 4 cm ; cauline leaves sessile , linear-lanceolate , entire margin ; floret leaves triangular-ovate . Inflorescences cymes in terminal umbels with 3 or more rays , forking many times . Flowers cyathia 2 mm in diameter ; glands 4 , yellowish green , spreading ; styles erect , 1 . 5–2 mm long , joined at the base , with bifid , slightly thickened apices . Fruit capsule , 3 . 5 x 4 mm , exserted on a recurved pedicel , deeply 3-lobed . Seeds 2 . 3 x 1 . 5 mm , oblong-ovoid , smooth , shiny black , grey or brown-speckled . (Ref . POWO ; 2023) .
