Euphorbia serpens Kunth

This species is native to Easter Island, SE Canada, extending to Tropical & Subtropical America; introduced elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 28 species of Euphorbia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Much-branched annual herb ; up to 10(–20) cm long , forming a mat of prostrate stems , rooting at the nodes . Stems prostrate , much branched , glabrous , reddish green . Leaves opposite , 2-5 x 1-2 mm , often purple to reddish green , ± sessile , broadly ovate to almost round , apex obtuse , base truncate , margin entire , petiolate , glabrous ; stipules ovate , fringed at the apex . Inflorescences cyathia terminal or on short axillary shoots , with cup-shaped involucres . Flowers cyathia ; glands 4 , minute , with white appendages ; male flowers with laciniate bracteoles ; female flower perianth evident as a 3-lobed rim below the shortly pedicellate ovary . Fruit capsule , 2-3 mm , obtusely 3-lobed , with truncate base , glabrous , yellow-green . Seeds 1 × 0 . 6 mm , oblong-conical , smooth , greyish pink . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
