Acacia auriculiformis A.Cunn. ex Benth.

This tree is native to Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea; introduced elsewhere. (Ref. https://en.wikipedia.org). There is only one species known of Acacia so far grows in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

An evergreen tree ; up to 5 m tall , unarmed , with open , spreading crown and vertically fissured bark . Stems much-branched . Leaves alternate , simple , reduced to phyllodes (flattened leaf stalks) , 10–16 cm long , 1 . 5–2 . 5 cm wide , with 3–8 parallel nerves , thick , leathery and curved . Inflorescences in loose spikes at leaf axils or in clusters of spikes at stem tips . Flowers creamy yellow , sweet scented , mimosa-like ; stamens numerous , free . Fruit pods , flat , cartilaginous , glaucous , transversely veined with undulate margins . Seeds 4–6 x 3–4 mm , broadly ovate to elliptical . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
