Astragalus eremophilus Boiss. subsp. eremophilus

This subspecies is native to Western Sahara, Arabian Peninsula, to SW Iran and SW Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 8 species of Astragalus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 45 cm tall . Stems woody at the base , erect to ascending , spreading , white pilose ; hairs basifixed . Leaves stipulate , imparipinnate with 4-6 pairs of leaflets ; leaflets 3-8 x 2-3 mm , obovate to elliptic , pilose . Inflorescences borne in axillary racemes . Flowers pale yellow to lilac , ± 5 mm ; calyx 4-5 mm , teeth ± 3 mm , acute , membranous , pilose . Fruit pod , sessile , 12-15 x 2 . 5-3 mm , curved , white-pilose , ± 20-seeded , dehiscent . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
