Astragalus schimperi Boiss.

This species is native to Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Arabian Peninsula and eastwards to Iran and SW Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 8 species of Astragalus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 20 cm tall . Stems prostrate , pubescent with simple hairs . Leaves stipulate , imparipinnate with 4-8 pairs of leaflets ; leaflets 5-10 x 2-5 mm , oblong-elliptic to linear-oblong , acute at the apex , white-pubescent . Inflorescences in a few-flowered , pedunculate heads . Flowers calyx ± 4 mm , lobed above with small acute lobes ± 1 mm , pubescent ; corolla pink to purple-pink , ± 9 mm . Fruit pods , usually in groups of 4-6 , sessile , spreading stellately or erect in heads , white-pilose , partly bilocular . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
