Astragalus vogelii subsp. fatimensis Maire

This subspecies is native to N Africa, Middle East, Arabian Peninsula and NW. India. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 8 species of Astragalus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 20 cm tall . Stems slender , erect to ascending or trailing with bifurcate hairs . Leaves stipulate , imparipinnate with 5(-6) pairs of leaflets ; leaflets 3-7 x 2-4 mm , opposite to subopposite , subsessile , elliptic-oblong to oblong , apex emarginated , entire along margins , densely pilose on both surfaces with appressed , medifixed , white hairs . Inflorescences in 2–13-flowered sessile spikes . Flowers pink to mauve , subsessile , erect ; calyx 3-4 mm , teeth acute white pilose ; corolla ± 5 mm . Fruit pods , sessile , straight , 6-10 x 2-3 mm , ovoid-ellipsoid , densely pubescent , beaked , unilocular , 4–6-seeded . Seeds 1 . 5–2 . 0 × ± 1 mm , oblong-reniform , yellowish-brown , turgid , irregularly depressed , smooth , glabrous . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
