Large , glabrous ornamental shrub or small tree , unarmed or with small prickles . Stems branched , erect to ascending , with sharp prickles . Leaves pinnae 3–10 pairs ; leaflets 5–11(–13) pairs per pinna , oblong-elliptic . Inflorescences in long terminal racemes . Flowers bowl-shaped ; petals 5 , scarlet , red and yellow , orange-red or yellow ; filaments scarlet , 3–6 . 5 cm . Fruit pods , 7-12 cm long , oblong , flat , green .
