Ebenus stellata Boiss.

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula (Oman), Iran, Afghanistan, SW Pakistan (Baluchistan) to India (Punjab). (Ref. POWO; 2022). There is only one species of Ebenus occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Cushion-forming subshrub ; up to 75 cm high , all parts brown or grey silky . Stems grey-white , hairy . Leaves (1-)3(-5)-foliolate , 15-25 x 1-1 . 5 mm , linear-lanceolate , tip spiny , entire , glaucous , densely pubescent on both sides . Inflorescences an axillary peduncled head ; peduncle 3-8 cm long . Flowers sessile , orange to red-yellow , wings yellow-orange , surrounded by an involucre of spine-tipped bracts ; calyx linear-lanceolate , pilose ; corolla with standard petal 5-6 mm , orange with red lines , wings yellow-orange , keel pale yellow . Fruit pod , 9-10 mm , flat , oblong , membranous , indehiscent , brown , enclosed in calyx , 1-seeded . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
