Indigofera articulata Gouan

This species is native to Sahara, Arabian Peninsula, westwards to Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 16 species of Indigofera found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Erect , branched , perennial undershrub ; up to 50 cm tall , everywhere densely appressed silvery pubescent . Stems grey-white , erect to ascending , spreading , appressed white-hairy . Leaves imparipinnate with 3-7 leaflets , purple-green ; stipules small , linear , falling soon ; leaflets 5-15 x 5-10 mm , the terminal leaflet the largest , opposite , obovate , apex emarginate , base tapering . Inflorescences in axillary racemes , shorter than the subtending leaf . Flowers dark red ; calyx 1-2 mm , lobes triangular ; corolla with standard petal yellow with red margins ; stamens 3 mm long ; ovary sessile , pubescent , style glabrous , stigma capitate . Fruit pod , 7-10 x 2-3 mm , brown , not flattened , attached straight or reflexing downwards , slightly curved upwards , densely appressed white-hairy , somewhat constricted in between the seeds , beaked , indehiscent , 2–4-seeded .
