Indigofera nephrocarpa Balf.f.

This species is native to NE Somalia, Socotra, S Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 16 species of Indigofera found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial shrublet , the whole plant appressed white-pubescent . Stems prostrate to ascending , greyish brown ; older stems and branches whitish green . Leaves 1-foliolate , glaucous ; leaflets 2-4 x 1 . 5-2 mm , alternate , obovate , obtuse at the apex , base tapering . Inflorescences racemes 2–6-flowered , very short , peduncle up to 5 mm long . Flowers scarlet red , ± 2 mm ; calyx 1–1 . 5 mm long , divided to about the middle ; corolla standard pubescent outside ; stamens c . 1 . 5 mm long . Fruit pods , ± 5 mm , not flattened , greyish brown , covered with spreading hairs , 1-seeded . Seeds globose to cylindric , truncate , compressed or quadrate . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
