Indigofera spiniflora Hochst. ex Boiss.

This species is native to S Egypt to NE Tropical Africa, SW Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 16 species of Indigofera found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Much-branched shrublet ; up to 50 cm tall , young stems appressed silvery . Stems woody , grey-green , erect to ascending , lateral branches ending in sharp points ; the whole appressed white-hairy . Leaves imparipinnate , 1-foliolate ; stipules minute ; leaflet 4-14 x 2-6 mm , grey-green or purplish green , oblong to oblong-ovate , apex obtuse to rounded and emarginate , base tapering . Inflorescences sessile , axillary on lateral stems . Flowers orange-red , ± 4 mm ; calyx ± 3 mm , lobes acuminate ; corolla with standard petal ± 5 mm ; stamens 3-3 . 5 mm long . Fruit pods , 9-11 x ± 2 mm , not flattened , often reflexing downwards , beaked , appressed white-hairy , browny white when mature , c . 4-6-seeded . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
