Indigofera trita var. maffei (Chiov.) Ali

This variety is native to Eritrea to Mozambique, Arabian Penninsula to W India. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 16 species of Indigofera found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual or or short-lived perennial herb ; up to 50 cm tall . Stems erect to straggling , ribbed with the ribs pale green , glabrous to sparsely appressed white-hairy , yellow-green . Leaves imparipinnate with 5-7 leaflets ; stipules linear ; leaflets 20-35 x 12-18 mm , broadly oblong to ovate , apex obtuse with a short mucro , base tapering , glabrous above , appressed hairy beneath . Inflorescences in axillary racemes . Flowers red , ± 7 mm ; calyx 2-2 . 5 mm , lobes acuminate ; corolla with standard petal ± 7 mm ; wings and keel ± 5 mm . Fruit pods , 30-55 x ± l mm , not flattened , reflexing downwards , linear , appressed white-hairy . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
